Back to Black.

Okay, so you may remember way back when, when I decided to dye my hair red. And it didn’t work. Only with that brand, apparently, it does work. You just have to shower a few times. So after a few weeks, I was sporting a nice auburn mane. And it was fun for a while, but I’m ready to get back to my roots. Get it? Roots? I’m dying my hair. HA! Maybe that’s only funny in my head…

Garnier Herbashine Soft Black

Anyway, I used Garnier HerbaShine in Soft Black this time. I’ve learned the hard way that it’s so much better to ease into a color instead of jumping, which is why I’m not going from auburn to full on black. (As in, I once tried to go from Black to bright red and ended up creating a frizzy hot pink mess on my roots, and black on the rest of my head) Baby steps. Plus this one was on sale, and the black I wanted wasn’t. Sales always win.

So the before:

Inside is your typical hair dye stuff. Gloves, instructions, and dye. Mix it up, apply  it. With this one you only leave it on ten minutes, as opposed to the typical thirty, and it’s semi permanent, which means it’ll wash out in 28 washes. But it also promises to make your hair shiny. So I’m all in.

Plus, you’re not supposed to dye more than  once a month. I usually forget (or don’t need to) so it happens more like once every season change. But if it fades back to red, I CAN GO GET HARD BLACK! I’m a genius, I know.

I would also like to take this moment to offer you my most embarrassing moment of the week. When I was checking out, the guy in line behind me asked me about my phone case, then mentioned something about my hair dye. So, typical me trying to make polite conversation responded “Yeah, I got soft black because I’m not sure I’m ready for a black hard on”. TO which he turned bright red and walked out of line. My mom is still making fun of me about it, and it’s been 24 hours since the incident.

I’m really happy with how it came out, and I’m honestly bummed that it’s only a 28 day color, because I love how it’s making my eyes pop so much more.

Would I buy it again? Without a doubt, especially if I can find the same color and brand in a permanent dye. My hair feels healthier, looks shinier, smells amazing, and there’s not a hint of red anywhere. Success!
