Be okay, today.

I know normally I have these super bubbly, happy posts but today I’m just not in that mood. Something happened within my family Sunday that really had me think. About how different people approach things differently, and how life can change us. And it’s just weird. Everyone starts out the same when we’re born. And then life comes into play and we all change, whether it’s our personality or our surroundings. And maybe you end up completely jaded by love, or completely addicted to romance. Maybe you become a pessimist, maybe you’re an optimist. Either way, something changes and who you are starts to be shaped.

I’ve always approached life as optimistically as I could. If I could make a joke, it’s not that bad. If the worst possible outcome isn’t death, it’s not that bad. If your core values are still there, it’s not that bad. Even if it shakes you to your core.

And so, as I was driving home today from work, trying to help this family member, I kept telling them over and over. That’s part of being social. You have to pick if you want to be a part of being around other people, or if you want to be a hermit. You have to remember how much you’ve already survived, and that if that didn’t break you, nothing can destroy you. But even saying it over and over didn’t feel like enough. You can’t force someone to see things from your point of you, as much as you might want to. And it straight up sucks, because I want to save them, and I can’t. So I’m stuck here watching one of the people I love more than life drown, and all I can do is pray.

I’m sure there’s a really good reason we’re all created differently, so incredibly differently. But where do you go when that clashes?

Your blog is sooo pretty. Obviously I'm new here, and I definitely don't know what kind of situation you're going through, but I really like your outlook on things. And it's true-- if you can still manage to make a joke or crack a smile, things can't be that bad. Good stuff.

It is so frustrating when people just can't "get it". Especially when you are trying to hard to help. Just keep your chin up and be strong for them so they can look to you.

I hope everything works itself out soon.

Ahh yea sometimes the hardest thing is giving advice but knowing that they might not listen and ultimately just watching and praying.

All you can do is be there for them and keep your great outlook on things!
