College diaries chapter 2

Here’s my thing. I don’t want to do Psychology for the rest of my life. I’m completely burnt out, frustrated and done with going to class and leaving feeling stupid. I’m tired of hearing “You’re so close to the end! Just a few more semesters” and hearing that voice in the back of my head reminding me it’s not just a few more semesters, it’s actually a few more years. Because graduating with a bachelors in Psych pretty much signs me up for grad school if I want to actually work in the field.

I just want to be happy, and to be completely honest, I’m not right now. In a perfect world, I’d spend the rest of my life organizing. Or designing stuff for blogs. Which I know sounds crazy, and ridiculous, but that’s what relaxes me.  I just feel like beating my head into a brick wall every time I think about another semester of this. And then again when I think about letting down the people who pushed me so hard into this major and the idea of pursuing my PhD.

I’ve considered PR, so I could end up with either a franchise company or a magazine. I’ve considered advertising. Education. But every single thing leads me to start doubt myself and my intentions.

What do you do when you have no clue what you want to do with your life, and it’s time to decide?

Pros and cons lists!! Ultimately, your major doesn't make a difference (unless you want to be a Doctor). Do what makes you happy! Pick the major that excites you! Advertising classes are super fun!!

If it's any encouragement, I've got my B.A. in Psych and have been working in the mental health field for the last 6 years! Con is, the pay isn't great. BUT, there are probably some opportunities out there if you think and look both in and outside of the box!
