This is my happy face.

I went to the orthopedic surgeon today to get my leg checked out. And apparently the first doctor made it sound worse than it really was. When I fell, I pushed my lower leg bone into my upper leg bone, which bruised that and my ACL. So I have some pain killers and a cortisone shot to keep me pain free for a few days and then I’m allowed to walk again, work out again and live again. Heels in four weeks, and he said he saw absolutely no reason why I couldn’t compete at Miss Texas, even if he had to come give me another shot right before.

I can’t even begin to tell you how relieving that is. I think part of the reason I’ve had nothing to say lately is because I’ve been so bummed about the same thing. Competing for Miss Texas has been my dream for as long as I can remember, so to get this close and then have to walk away (or in my case, be wheeled away since I wasn’t able to walk) would be heart wrenching. But it all worked out for the best, and I feel a little bit more comforted knowing that not only does he approve me going, but he’ll be keeping an eye on it to make sure I can do it with the least amount of pain possible.

Now I can finally go back out to my schedule of hard core pageant prep without feeling guilty or like I’m pushing too hard. And that makes me so incredibly happy.
